MW by Osamu Tezkua

LAST ONE OF THE YEAR, FOLKS! Boy…oh…boy, these are the kind of books that should be made into movies. FUCK TWILIGHT, FUCK HARRY POTTER and FUCK 50 SHADES OF GRAY (while I do like 2 of the 3). This is by far the single best piece of anime I have ever picked up and I’m not just saying this to just talk out of my ass. IT’S THAT GOOD!

Written by the god of Japanese graphic novels, Osamu Tezkua, MW is about Michio Yuki, a good looking, intelligent fellow with a promising gig at a major bank in Tokyo, Japan. However, underneath this picture of perfection lies a deranged psychopath with deep secrets that can very well shake the world to its core. We also meet Father Garai, a “good-doing” priest who also has a lot of skeletons in his closet. Now bear with me, this part is a little lengthy but shockingly interesting…

Picture
The secret these two share?  15 years ago in a tiny island near the mainland called “Okino Mafune Island” a deadly gas weapon that was stored in a U.S. Army air force storage base called MW had an accidental leakage on the island that killed thousands of men, women, children, and animals. Yuki and Garai were visitors on the island with their friends, as the leakage, occurred they hid in an underground cave for days while their friends lay dead above ground and on top of that…they’re LOVERS.

15 years later, Yuki (btw: whose mind is now contaminated by the MW gas which is slowly killing him) has turned into a mental case while still maintaining a relationship with Garai with blackmail and manipulation. Yuki then starts getting himself into a gory murder spree and a lot Oscar-winning cross dressing and acting in order to expose the politicians who covered up the gas leak incident and locate the barrels of MW gas to exterminate all of mankind.  Whew, epic isn’t it? Again this story is absolutely incredible; it’s jaw-dropping and somewhat funny with every turn of the page.

I said at the start of this article that this is the kind of book that should be made into movies. Well…with a little digging, to my shock and dismay, I’m happy to announce that there is a film to this novel…but only in japan. I have not checked it out yet but I will as soon as you’re probably finished reading this.

In closing, I’d like to thank all of you, the readers, who took the time out to read my ramblings this year.  By doing so you showed that you have a love for anime & manga and don’t want to read all the titles that we already know and love. Ever since my first review back in June, my job was to introduce you to titles and authors new and fresh or some you or I have never heard of.  I’d also, of course, like to thank the boss of the fine network/website... own Double A. He took the time out to listen to me nag about how great this review series can be and Blah…blah…blah, people can say anything negative about this dude all they want, but one thing you can’t say is that is that he doesn’t  give everyone a shot. I was a nervous wreck the first time I called into WCIS and The Rant, now I have my own show a great article series and a group of people who have supported me since this network began. I couldn’t ask for anything more than that. (except maybe a paycheck )

So until 2K14, OVER AND OUT FUCKERS!

By Iron Man:

For as long as I can remember one of the major complaints about WWE is the fact that every month they hold a PPV. In recent years they have even went on to hold two PPV in October. I have always agreed that they hold to many PPV's every year. What I hate even more than the over flux of them is the gimmick PPV's. These gimmick show come off as so watered these days that I really have no interest in watching them anymore. The biggest problem with having a PPV every month is the fact that you only get about 3 weeks to conduct a feud. There is no way that you can conduct a feud that will pull everyone in far enough to care about the story being told. I know that they produce so many shows to try and get as many buy rates as they can. I can't blame them for wanting to make as much money as possible. It does get to a point where you have to ask yourself which end of the spectrum is more important. Is the quick money from producing a PPV every month more important that the gain in fan base that will bring in more money over a longer time. If I had to choose between the two I would pick the fan base because you can't go wrong with producing a better product. I have thought that WWE is in a position to break through that glass ceiling that they have yet to get through. Just because they have no real competition there is no reason for them to just coast through the match cards.

Even though I know they will never take up my idea I gave this edition a lot of thought. The following is what I thought would help increase the product to a better show for everyone. I have always thought that the PPV's should be every other month to give everyone a 4-6 week time span for a feud. I also think that these gimmick PPV's are getting stale because they give no variety to the matches and the lack of time to build a feud gives us no reason to want to get behind a PPV. The big four should remain at the time slots that they have always been to give something that everyone has grown to expect. I do how ever have a few ideas how I would improve them a bit to give them a flair of excitement. In January we are given the Royal Rumble PPV which is one of my favorite ones every year. I thing that in order to give it a bit more flair they should add the money in the bank match on the card to add to it so that it's a PPV jam packed with two types of matches that will keep the audiences at the tip of their toes. If you have a problem with having a money in the bank match at the Royal Rumble then it should be added to the Wrestlemania match to break up some of the matches to keep everyone interested in the match card. Once the Royal Rumble is over this will create a need to start a few feuds steaming from the results of some of the matches. Since the next PPV is Wrestlemania this would give enough time to build a proper feud during the road to Wrestlemania. If they built a proper feud then people will be sucked in which mean more buy rates for them. Another good reason for stretching out the PPV's is the fact that this will allow the talent to properly rest up from the balls to the wall matches they only put on for the PPV's. A rested wrestler means a better match for everyone.

Picture
In March to April we are graced with Wrestlemania and the spectacle that it has become. I think this is the PPV that they should throw out the rule books. Make any type of match that they feel would be a good match up. Since this will be the start of the year for WWE since everything is centered around Wrestlemania. They are going to need a couple weeks to make sure the feuds they are going to use coming out of it will have enough time to grow some steam behind it. Just like many have said on the Rant and other places as well I think they need to bring back the Great American Bash or something new similar to it. Other than the occasional Wrestlemania there really are no shows that are held outside. Holding a show outside would bring a type of show that no stadium could bring. Holding a show outside would also give them a chance to break another attendance record that they haven't broke in a long time. In the month of June there would be a lot of people that would love to go to a great spectacle outside. It would feel almost like a great get together with friends that was enjoying a show together.

In August every year Summerslam occurs as what many refer to as one of the big four. If I had my way I would make a few changes to it. I think Summerslam would be a perfect time to begin the King of the ring tournament. I do not think they should hold the entire thing during Summerslam. I think they should stretch it out during the next few PPV's to make it last longer and could also be used as a filler match when they need to put a break between matches that might drain the audiences from having to take in a lot. I also think that if there has be an extreme type of match then this would be the perfect one to have a Hell in a Cell match. Since this show should be centered around the marque match that made this show popular there shouldn't be to many matches that take the focus off of it.

Picture
In October we have gotten accustomed to being used to seeing violence and blood. I think that this would be the perfect time for a PPV that holds no mercy for the contents of our stomach when our adrenaline gets pumping for exciting match after match. I would like to say having it billed as No Mercy could work even though I think it would be better billed as Full Mayhem or something to that effect. On this card you would have matches that consist of but not limited to TLC,Extreme Rules, Elimination Chambers. This show would give you moment after moment to mark out on some of the spots taken in the matches. This is one of those PPV's that I can see bringing in the fans that crave for more violence than the casual fans. The original ECW fans still crave a PPV that is more geared to their old glory days. So why not tap into it and give them a card that they would stamp their seal of approval on. At the beginning of the PPV I would also have another match for the King of the ring tournament. You could have it as a regular match or an extreme match to help give a break between some of the other extreme gimmick matches.

Since Survivor Series is one of the big four and happens in November I would treat it like the other three and keep it to appear during it's original time. I think the gimmick match that made this popular should be the main focus of this show. With the popularity of fantasy sports king of the ring tournament should end during this show as well. If the feuds through out the year has been booked correctly the matches should be able to stand alone on their own without any gimmicks behind them.

Since it's inception I thought that Taboo Tuesday and Cyber Sunday was an interesting idea. With the way WWE is always trying to pimp social media down our throats I thought it would be an interesting concept to use with a few tweaks along the way. I would first of all rename it to something a little bit more catchy. Then make it so that the card is controlled entirely by the fans. This will not only give the WWE app and the other social outlets a boost. It would also give the fans a more reason to want to be interested to what is being done. This could be WWE's way of giving back to the fans as a thank you for being fans another year. The fans would have control over the match types as well as the wrestlers involved in it as well. I would also go on and allow the titles to be allowed to be put on the line to give a neat little wrench to the creative department since they like to mess up feuds from time to time. Like I said the fans would have complete control of the card. This would also give the company an idea of who is really getting hot with the audiences and who isn't. I would also like to say that the voting shouldn't be limited to just the WWE app also. I think those polls are rigged as hell anyways. The other ways are a lot harder to fake up anyways.

Well that's my thoughts on a possible line up for the PPV's I hope you enjoyed it and gave you a new way of looking at the current line up. If you have a different way that you would have done the line up I would like to see you comment on this article with your idea.

That marks the end of this edition of Chopping Block and I want to thank everyone that taken the time to read these editions as I try to pump them out. If any of you have questions or comments or Chopping Block edition themes then do not hesitate to contact me.

Chopping Block - Edition #2 "Head Trauma Storyline"

By Iron Man:

I finished listening to episode #327 of the rant. It was a good episode as they usually are. If you haven't listened to it then quit being lazy and go listen to it before I come after you.

One of the topics that was discussed during the episode was about the time table that has been created so that the chance for a heel turn is as close as it's ever going to be for John Cena. I would have to agree that the small window for Cena to turn heel is the small window within the next two years depending on how they do the story angle. There are so many ways that they could go about doing it there should be no reason why it doesn't land perfectly. After I finished that episode I started to wonder if there was any other wrestlers that could be turned either heel or change their gimmick all together so that their stock in the company and the universe would increase ten fold. I could have done the easy thing and picked an obvious choice like Dolph Ziggler, but what would be the fun in that. lol So give myself a challenge I wanted to find a wrestler that has spent majority of his time with WWE as a face and figure out how to increase his stock in the company.

Picture
He is referred as a wrestling goof ball that is often used as enhancement talent. He has held several titles such as, Intercontinental championship, WWE tag team, United States. According to IWD(www.profightdb.com) at the time of writing this episode had a win- loss record of win-146(48.03%), loss-152(50.00%). He named himself after none other than the legendary Hall of Famer Gorilla monsoon.

The wrestler that is being the main focus in this episode is none other than Santino Marella. In 2003 Santino debuted at Ontario Indys as Johnny Geo Basco. If you look at video #1 you can watch one of the matches that shows that he has the ability to wrestle a regular match without all the goofball antics. I will admit that he was a little green in the match but he still showed a lot of potential to carry on a regular match. What people are not aware of is the fact that he is not that bad at doing MMA type matches. I don't think he is UFC level good but I think he is good enough that I think that he is being underutilized right now. If you watch video #2 you will see him doing a match were he is starting to shake off the green. He still is not as good enough to meet the major leagues standards of talent. He does show the potential to make a good name for himself if given the right kind of push and training in the big leagues.

In the OVW he made a decent promo as an Russian MMA fighter set out to destroy everyone in their path. Even though the promo isn't as polished as we are use to seeing from WWE but it does go to show that he is fully capable of cutting a good promo. If the promo had the production team that WWE had the possibilities would be endless. Video #3 is a video promo he made when he was debuting as Boris Alexiev. Anyone that would rather watch him as the Santino gimmick than the Boris gimmick need to get their heads examined. While the Santino gimmick may provide comedic value but he provides no real threat to any wrestler or titles on the roster. In fact he is looked at as a joke. How can you take someone serious when you have the company’s top guy referring to the gimmick as a joke in video #5. You can not take him seriously.

Picture
The only way that he can shake this gimmick in my opinion is for Santino to get storyline injured and have to get off air for awhile. If I was booking the angle this is what I would do to make the change as believable for everyone. In my opinion the only way to injure him is to have him suffer what appears to be severe head trauma. This would open the opportunity for Santino to suffer amnesia which would create the possibility for him to come back in search of the person who attacked him. Since when he was attacked it was never revealed who it was that attacked him it could be anyone that attacked him. I know it would never be used but I think that if you had a wrestler that was managed by Zeb Colter attack him that would make it more of an interesting story angle. You could have video packages of Santino going through rehab since he suffered a head trauma. He could even have sections of the video show him going through voice therapy to help him speak since his voice was affected from the incident due to brain swelling from the attack. If you are interested you can read info from the following link, (http://www.asha.org/public/speech/disorders/tbi/). If I had it my way I would also use this story line as a way to reintroduce Beth Pheonox back as her girlfriend. I know she dumped him when he was doing the twin sister angle.

This little fact can be fixed many of ways since people tend to get over little squabbles when there is a serious injury. You could have her come back trying to investigate the mystery behind the attack. I would have Santino come back around the same time she is about to mysteriously get attacked by the person responsible for the attack. I would have him suffer from amnesia the entire time so he has no clue who it was that attacked him. This would make it more interesting for him to investigate it. Santino has a decent voice that would be able to pull this off so that it's believable. If you watch video #6 you can hear even though he has a raspy voice for some reason you can still hear that he has the voice that would be able to pull it off. It also sounds strange to hear him talk without the goofy accent. Well since WWE has a habit of not wanting to do things that I think would make for good story line for wrestlers that have been pushed down to the low cards as enhancement talent. I know a cool storyline such as this will never happen.

Well that will be this issue of the Chopping Block and I want to thank you for taking the time to checking it out. If you have any comments or questions do not hesitate to comment on any episodes and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks

Iron Man
